In Bangladesh, job portals currently exist for the well-educated, high-end job seekers, but none exists for the semi-skilled population. Understanding that gap, Practical Action, a UK based international development organisation together with BDjobs.com, country's largest job match-making platform are introducing a job and knowledge portal together to connect the youth with large enterprises.
This initiative is being implemented by Practical Action under the "Securing Employment and Economic Development around Jute Textile and Light Engineering Sector in North-West Bangladesh" funded by the European Commission and in collaboration with BMET and RDRS. The project focuses on economic growth associated with jute and light engineering sector as well as skills development and employment creation for the extreme poor. The portal is expected to act as an innovative intervention in technical and vocational job match-making between the job seeker and employers.
Practical Action is taking a step forward to engage the youth and help them challenging poverty using appropriate technology.
